bird walk V7

Late summer is a time when birds from our region start to migrate to their wintering grounds in the south. They often gather in groups or larger numbers on places, where they feed, rest and prepare for their long journey. One of such places is also the area of the Morava River and that is also the aim of September birdwatching walk. We will have an opportunity to observe birds of prey (White-tailed Eagle, Imperial Eagle, Red Kite). Several species of woodpeckers thrive in the floodplain forests along Morava River. It will be very likely to hear contact calls of Black or Green Woodpecker. Wet meadows close to the oxbow lakes use to hide Snipes, Lapwing and other waders. In shallow waters we could observe hunting Grey Herons or Great Egrets.
