Raptors of Morava river alluvial plain

An area of former Iron Curtain is now a border between Slovakia and Austria. Thanks to its difficult past, it was one of the most heavily guarded areas in former Czechoslovakia. Thanks to this fact, an area is known for almost untouched alluvial forests and meadows, as well as oxbow lakes of the Morava River. Breath-taking and very often completely untouched nature is an ideal home for many bird species as well as rare plants. This area is considered to be the best place in Slovakia for a vast majority of our raptor species. There is a big chance to spot imperial, golden and white-tailed eagle, red and black kites, saker and peregrine falcons and many more.
