nature walk

This walk will be in Slovak language.

Our walk will lead us to an unique area of swamp elder forest just at the outskirts of our capital city. National Nature Reserve Šúr is the largest area of this kind in Central Europe and one of the largest in whole Europe. Monumental old elders with their roots, fallen trees and the humidity of such community resembles tropical forest. This site was also designated a Ramsar site in 1990. The second part of our walk will lead us through Panónsky háj Grove. It is an old elm-oak forest with majestic old oaks. Besides these two main habitats we will visit also local fishpond with the occurrence of waterbirds.

During our walk we will visit scrubland areas, elm-oak forests, swamp elder forests, lake. We hope to meet Nuthatches, Tits, 8 species of woodpecker and if we’re lucky also wedding flights of Imperial Eagle.
