Birds of prey near the Morava River

This walk will be in Slovak language.

Public bird walk to Devínske jazero area, a regularly flooded site near the Morava River. The exact route will be therefore adapted to the actual water level. Walk will be focused on birds of prey (White-tailed Eagle, Red Kite, Common Buzzard, Sparrowhawk, Northern Goshawk, Kestrel, Hen Harrier, Peregrine Falcon, Imperial Eagle), waterbird (ducks, herons) and birds of floodplain forest (woodpeckers, song birds).

Transport: individually: by train, by car or a bicycle

Meeting place and time: 9:00, in front of buffet “U starého bicykla“

You can go by car or by train from Bratislava main train station. Departure from Bratislava at 8:15, possibility to entrain also at station Lamač at 8:23 or Devínska Nová Ves 8:31 and you will get off in Devínske jazero at 8:35 and from there by foot to the meeting place (aprox. 1,2 km; 15 min. walk). Participants buy their tickets individually. You can go to the meeting point according to this road.

Return by train at 1:22 pm from Devínske jazero. Arrival of the train to Bratislava main train station at 1:42 pm. It is possible to walk from Devínske jazero to Devínska Nová Ves (cca 5 km).

Participants interested in coming by own car can park at the “U starého bicykla” buffet. In case you´re coming with small children or less mobile participants, you can park also next to the military object at railway ramps. We will be there around 9:45. You will find a map here.

Trip length: 5 hours

Route and terrain: easy, terrain is plain, walk will be approx. 9 km long; good field shoes recommended due to the possibility of mud on the pathway

Number of participants: 10 – 40

Price: 5 € / person

Price for children under 12 years: 2 €; every additional child: 1 €

Children under 3 years: admission free

Payment is possible on the spot in cash or prepay by bank transfer.

Price includes: full guiding service, binoculars and bird identification guide rental

Price does NOT include: transportation, food

This event is also suitable for participants with children.

In case of bad weather we will keep you posted about the possible cancellation of the walk both on our website and our Facebook page in the evening before the walk. The walk is automatically cancelled in case the Slovak hydrometeorological institute issues a warning for that day.

Free Storno is possible 14 days prior. If you decide to cancel your participation less than 14 days before the event, you will be charged a cancellation fee of 20 %. Please be advised that in case you do not cancel your reservation at least 2 days in advance, you will be charged a full price. Thank you for your understanding.
